The QB’s unvaccinated status become public earlier in November when he tested positive for COVID-19. Rodgers then went on “The Pat McAfee Show” and elaborated on why he isn’t vaccinated. He said he took ivermectin, a drug used to treat or prevent parasites in animals and one that the FDA has said not to use to fight COVID.

Rodgers was placed on Green Bay’s reserve COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus and missed the Packers’ game against the Chiefs on Sunday. He had previously noted he was “immunized” against COVID-19, but as it turns out, him saying that did not mean he received the vaccine, because he never did.

“He knew some people would disagree with him, but he didn’t know that it would become the s—storm it became. People who he thought were friends are turning on him. He’s upset. He’s very unhappy with the response to him.”

Story Highlights

  • Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is upset. No, it’s not just because his Packers lost without him on Sunday. It’s also because of the reaction the public has had to learning the QB is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • Rodgers also said he did his own research, spoke to doctors and was also taking advice from podcast host Joe Rogan on fighting the virus. According to PEOPLE, Rodgers did not think the public reaction would be negative to him being unvaccinated. He reportedly “feels like he just shared his point of view, and now he’s being crucified for it,” PEOPLE wrote.

Rodgers said the main reason he did not get the vaccine is because he is allergic to an ingredient in the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines. He noted that he did not want Johnson & Johnson, because he had heard of multiple people who had had adverse events “around getting the J&J.”

A CDC study earlier this year said the risk of COVID-19 infection was reduced by 91 percent in those who are fully vaccinated.

Rodgers did not play in the Packers game against the Chiefs on Sunday because he was in the mandatory quarantine, leaving Jordan Love in at QB. Green Bay lost 13-7.
