LaBrae 74, Mineral Ridge 33 – Aidan Stephens scored 20 points and Devin Carter added 19 as the Vikings (5-2) jumped out to a 10-point first quarter lead and never looked back. Caleb Simmons added 10 points in the win for LaBrae. Payton Zupko scored 15 points for Mineral Ridge and hit two 3-pointers.

Springfield 61, Salem 40 – Adam Wharry scored 16 points and Jake Joyce added 14 as the Tigers earned a 21-point win over the Quakers. Cam Sampson led the Quakers with 10.


Mathews 60, Madonna (W Va.) 58 – Down one with 30 seconds left, Mathews’ Vinny Sharp drilled a 3-pointer for three of his team-high 20 points to deliver the Mustangs their 10th win of the season. Dom Greenwood added 18 points in the win.

  • Warren JFK 75, Medina Christian 26 – The Eagles built a commanding 20-point lead in the first quarter, extended it to 31 at halftime and earned a dominating victory Saturday evening. Michael Condoleon and Jaden Rishel scored 19 points apiece in the victory.

West Branch 66, Alliance 28 – Led by Sophie Gregory’s 13 points the Warriors (11-3, 6-1) cruised to another easy victory Saturday afternoon at home. Sydney Mercer added 12, Mikalyn Fitts chipped in with 11 and Anna Lippiatt scored 10 to contribute to the victory.

Ursuline 49, East 33 – The Fighting Irish (3-7) marched to their third win of the season on Saturday with a convincing win over the Golden Bears (1-4). Alayna Smith led Ursuline with 17 points while Soriella Reynolds tallied 12 for East.

Canfield 51, Harding 18 – The Raiders were in three points at the end of the first quarter, but the Cardinals exploded for 14 points in the second quarter and never looked back before cruising to a 33 point win. Alyssa Dill scored a game-high 20 points for Canfield and MaKaila Powell led Harding with 11. WRESTLING

Fitch Duals In a day where the Falcons went 4-1 at their own tournament, Austintown Fitch alum and head wrestling coach John Burd picked up his 100th carrer dual meet victory Saturday afternoon with a 69-11 victory over Howland. The Falcons also took down St. Vincent-St. Mary (43-26), Hubbard (65-12) and Boardman (51-20) throughout the course of the day.

SWIMMING NEAC Championships

Canfield’s Luke Dietz also captured the 50 freestyle with a clocking of 22.66 seconds.

RJ Keating (Diving), Ethan DunLany (500 freestyle) and Caleb Satterfield (100 breaststroke) all captured 1st place finishes. The Boardman boys and girls swimming teams held strong at the NEAC Championships on Saturday at Wooster high school. The boys team earned a 1st place finish with 402 team points, 17 points ahead of 2nd place Wooster. The girls placed second behind a strong Akron Firestone team.
