IOWA FALLS — During a regular meeting held at the Ellsworth Community College campus on Wednesday, the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) board of directors unanimously approved a technology infrastructure project that will more than triple the number of wireless access points across the district.

Mosher also explained security upgrades that will allow district leadership to control access and limit exposure to potential hackers.

Installation is expected to begin in May of 2022 with completion projected for next fall.

“From a security standpoint, it’s going to be a huge improvement from what we’re able to do today,” he said.

Story Highlights

  • According to IVCCD Chief Information Officer Mike Mosher, the project will include replacing a total of four core switches, two in Marshalltown and two in Iowa Falls, and 125 edge switches along with increasing the number of wireless access points from 130 to 394, mostly in student housing units.
