SWINGING AWAY — Caesen Sutton and the Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 Legion baseball today will host Coshocton Post 65 for the Region 7 district championship today.

STEUBENVILLE — Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 is headed to the Region 7 Legion baseball district championship following an 11-0, five-inning defeat over Brilliant Post 573 on Sunday.

George Ash earned the near-perfect, complete-game victory for Jefferson County. He allowed no runs on one hit, no walks and struck out seven.

In the second game, Brilliant fell to Coshocton Post 65, 13-4, to conclude its season. Post 33 and 65 will square off at 5 p.m. today at Vaccaro Field. If Post 65 wins, a decisive second game will start at approximately 8 p.m.

Offensively, Blake Connelly had two singles and two runs batted in. Ryan Anderson produced a base knock and two RBIs. J.T. Thompson, Corey Cottis and Caesen Sutton each tallied a single and an RBI.

Alan Burkett delivered the lone hit for Brilliant, which was a single. He also started and took the loss in 2 1/3 innings, allowing 10 runs (three earned) on eight hits, one walk and striking out none.
