Karen Dershem, 64 of Avis, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at UPMC Williamsport Hospital surrounded by her family.
Karen was a Christian by faith and was a stay-at-home mother where she cared for her loving family for over 40 years.
Born July 30, 1957 in Beech Creek, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ream and Marilyn Leathers Ream, who survives in Lock Haven.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren outdoors and would often go camping. She loved creating her own arts and crafts, especially painting. Karen loved watching her grandchildren play sports and never missed a school activity.
On Dec. 31, 1980, Karen married the love of her life, David Dershem, Sr. They shared 32 years of marriage together.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, David (Lisa Brule) Dershem, Jr. of Jersey Shore; her daughters, Christina (Charles) Etters of Rauchtown and Heather (Corey Bailey) Bower of Jersey Shore; her loving grandchildren, Justin Etters, Emily Etters, Kayla Rossman, Gavin Bower, Charlie Etters, Bryce Bower and Ahna Dershem; and a great-grandchild, Xylina Tome. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
