MLB Free Center: Marcus Stroman makes it clear he has no plans to sign with the Yankees

On Tuesday, a Yankee fan made a jersey swap that pictured Stroman in pinstripes and tweeted it at the free agent pitcher. Stroman, who spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with the Mets, certainly didn’t pull any punches as he responded:

In addition, Stroman pointed out that the Yankees hadn’t won a World Series since 2009 despite rolling out a large payroll.

Stroman has definitely been a reliable arm in recent years. In his time with the Mets, Stroman had a strong 3.21 ERA to go along with 218 strikeouts. The veteran right-hander is also coming off a season in which he owned a 3.02 ERA and pitched 179 innings across 33 starts.

Story Highlights

  • The New York Yankees have previously seemed interested in signing free agent starting pitcher Marcus Stroman. However, it appears that the interest isn’t exactly mutual.

  • There was an additional tweet that was directed at Mets pitcher Taijuan Walker where Stroman alluded to the fact that his infamous dreadlocks and tattoos weren’t “going anywhere.” Of course, this points to the fact that the Yankees have a tradition where they don’t allow players to have long hair.
