Officials: 35th Taylor County (West Virginia) resident dies of COVID-19 | News

“We send our deepest sympathy to this family, and out of respect to this gentleman’s family, no further information will be released,” Bender said in a statement. “The report of a COVID-19 death reported is a solemn reminder of the seriousness of this disease.”

Special measures also must be taken to protect individuals who are at increased risk of severe disease — people who are older or have other medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and chronic lung disease, among others.

Story Highlights

  • Dr. David Bender, the county’s public health officer, announced that the deceased was a 62-year-old male. He was the 35th victim in Taylor County.

  • The Grafton-Taylor County Health Department strongly encourages everyone to get vaccinated and practice the prescribed measures in place for their protection. These measures include frequent hand washing, face coverings to include a mask, avoidance of touching eyes, nose, and mouth, avoiding close contact and covering coughs and sneezes.
