“We send our deepest sympathy to this family, and out of respect to this gentleman’s family, no further information will be released,” Bender said in a statement. “The report of a COVID-19 death reported is a solemn reminder of the seriousness of this disease.”
Special measures also must be taken to protect individuals who are at increased risk of severe disease — people who are older or have other medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and chronic lung disease, among others.
Dr. David Bender, the county’s public health officer, announced that the deceased was a 62-year-old male. He was the 35th victim in Taylor County.
The Grafton-Taylor County Health Department strongly encourages everyone to get vaccinated and practice the prescribed measures in place for their protection. These measures include frequent hand washing, face coverings to include a mask, avoidance of touching eyes, nose, and mouth, avoiding close contact and covering coughs and sneezes.
