The panel for this event will be Ross County Health Commissioner, Garrett Guillozet, Dr. Michael E. Jones, D.O. Orthopedic & Neurologist @ Adena, Dr. John Gabis, Medical Director of Community Partnerships at Adena, and Ross County NAACP Health Chair, Nurse Practitioner, Robin Jones.

Ross County Historical Society to host major Quilt & Needlework Exhibit

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ross County Heritage Center, 45 W. Fifth St., Chillicothe. Featured will be more than 60 handmade quilts, a dozen schoolgirl samplers, and many other examples of needlework dating from the late 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Each item will be displayed so that visitors can fully appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship of Ross County’s needle and thread artisans past and present.

CHILLICOTHE —The Ross County Historical Society will host the grand opening of a major new exhibit titled “200 Years of Quilts and Needlework 1796-1996.”

  • CHILLICOTHE — Community Connection: Confronting COVID will take place at Ohio University Chillicothe at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in the Auditorium at Bennett Hall.  

  • The panelists will share information and answer questions.

Other special grand opening day features include a free quilt care seminar by noted quilt authority and appraiser, Amy Korn. The seminar will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m. with seating available on a first-come-first served basis.  Following the seminar, Korn will provide individual consultations for visitors who would like to bring in and learn more about a favorite old quilt.  (Consultation fees are $12 per quilt with a limit of two quilts per person, please. Consultations are on a first come-first served basis.)  Additional features include special table displays by the “Old Town Fabric Shop” and the “Sew Clever Quilt Shop” plus hand quilting demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, and door prizes.

Meetings Liberty Township Board of Trustees will conduct its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the office of the fiscal officer located at 4923 Vigo Road, Londonderry.

Trick or Treat times Scioto Township will hold trick or treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. The back up date will be 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 30.
