The metric saw a sharp drop over the weekend from the highest peak seen in the pandemic so far (1,008), but has since begun to climb again.

The number of patients on ventilators has seen less fluctuation and a more steady increase but did see a significant drop over the weekend as well. Tuesday’s reported number of 194 was still just under the record level reported Saturday.

Of those 194, 20 (10.3%) were fully vaccinated.

  • The number of residents hospitalized for COVID grew to 995 Tuesday, 178 (17.9%) of whom are fully vaccinated, according to data posted to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ COVID-19 dashboard.

  • After seeing ups and downs since Sept. 18, the number of patients admitted to intensive care units increased to a record-high 297. Of those, 37 (12.5%) are fully vaccinated.
