White Out Scheduled for SoCon Start Saturday

It begins with Western Carolina at 1:30 p.m., Saturday afternoon.

The Catamounts enter on a tough start with near-misses at home against Eastern Kentucky (28-31) and Samford (37-42) and this past weekend’s trip to Gardner-Webb (34-52).

The game is chock full of promotions and special events. It’s a “White Out” with fans encouraged to wear white to the game. The first 1,000 fans get a white rally towel courtesy of Dr Pepper.

It’s a battle of defense vs. offense. The Mocs limit opponents to less than 300 yards total offense (298.0) and 20 points per game (19.3), while the Catamounts average 33.0 points and 553.7 yards (212.7 rush/341.0 pass) against FCS competition.

Story Highlights

  • The 19th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs took a week away to relax, sit by the pool and reflect. Well, none of that happened as the work week ended with a weekend off before coming back to reset and prepare for the start of the 2021 Southern Conference slate.

  • The Mocs are coming off the bye week following a strong performance at Kentucky losing a fourth quarter lead in a 28-23 decision.

It is also Fall Family Weekend at UTC as well as Band Day. Approximately 500 local high school band students signed up to play alongside the Marching Mocs at the game. Regular tailgating includes the fun kid zone area with inflatables, photo opportunities and other games.
