With a darker theme, the Google One App gets better design

In a recent report by 9to5Google, the Material You makeover is arriving for the Google One Android app. Not only this, but a dark theme, which was the need of the hour, is also arriving for the app.

The latest Material You design brings the bottom bar approach to Google One, replacing the top bar approach. Other elements, including the Home, Storage, Benefits, and Storage, remain unaltered.

Dynamic color support is also coming to the Google One app
Dark theme, more importantly, is also a part of this new update. Along with Material You, the Dynamic Color support is also arriving for the Google One app.

One important change that has come to Google One is that the Settings page is now moved to a new navigation drawer. A new navigation drawer is also a place to quickly access your Membership plans pricing list.

Story Highlights

  • Material You design language is the massive change that you will notice with Android 12. In the recent past, Google has been updating its stock apps with the latest design, and now it is time for the Google One app.

  • For those who don’t know, Google One is a subscription service that lets you expand your cloud storage along with a few extra perks. With Google One, you can manage your membership, automatically back up your phone’s data, access Google Store rewards, contact support with one tap, and much more.

With Dynamic Color, the app background will change the color according to the dominant color of your wallpaper. Pill-shaped buttons can also be seen across the app interface.

Google logo is also available only in either black or white, replacing the previous availability of four colors. Notably, you won’t be able to change the app from dark mode to light mode or vice versa, as there is no manual control provided within the app.

It follows the system default theme automatically. Google One is among the last few apps or probably the last one left out receiving the Dark mode theme, which was introduced by Android back in 2018. So, it is nice to see that Google One is also catching up with the Material You design, as Android 12 will soon be launched, officially.

The new changes are available on the Google One app version 1.117. If you want to experience the changes in the Google One app, you can download the app from Google Play Store by heading over to this link.
